So I had my alternator crap out on me the other day. Turned out I was completely missing the lower mounting bolt and my tension adjusting screws were broken. Idk how I’ve been driving around for over a year without issue like that. Anyways, after getting new bolts in there and getting the belt actually tight, it seemed to work just fine. But then I was still having issues and after further investigation, found the positive terminal completey fubar’d. It was fully loose when I shook it a bit and then after loosening the nut on the wire, I discovered the stud came right out! Pictured is part of the alternator that is definitely not supposed to come out. So now I definitely need an alternator for the miata.
The thing that sucks is that I have one in storage but said storage is locked shut inaccessible due to Corona virus. Just my luck! That would save me $100 but with no eta on reopening, I’d rather just buy another part and have my car back to working order in a matter of a few days.
Oh well, first world problems I’ve got two fun cars so I’ll just drive the other one.
Happy weekend! I'm gonna go boogie board since the ocean is 5 minutes away. Tis the life!
